Welcome to Atholton High
School’s Sports Boosters! As with all of our Booster programs, our goal
is to provide financial and managerial support to our athletic
organizations, continuing a proud reputation as one of Howard County’s
premier high school sports competitors. Our success greatly depends on
parent and community participation, both on and off the fields.
Fundraising is Fundamental
- The AHS Sports Boosters hold various fundraising activities
throughout the school year, including a tailgate lunch held on
Homecoming in October, a holiday tree sale in December, and a fun-filled
Bull Roast and Casino night for adults in the spring. Ongoing sales of
spirit wear, food concessions, and admission to evening games also boost
our revenue. Our most sizeable return, next to the Bull Roast, comes
from membership. The money raised through individual, family, and
corporate memberships goes toward the subsequent year’s budget, and
allows us to supplement county school board allotments to purchase new
uniforms and state-of-the-art equipment, maintain and upgrade our fields
and gymnasiums, and provide added player and spectator amenities. Each
Booster member receives a t-shirt and, depending on the level of giving,
additional Spirit Wear items and special recognition. Please
encourage your team’s parents to join!
Volunteering is Vital
- Our Sports Booster Program is just a name without the help of
countless dedicated parents, administrators, teachers, coaches, and
friends to organize and implement our fundraising activities and other
events. We hold monthly meetings (every 2nd Monday @ 7:00
p.m.) to keep our members updated on sports activities and plan for
upcoming events. Anyone is welcome to attend. In addition to Booster
officers and committee chairs, one or two parent liaisons represent each
team at these meetings, and may address pertinent issues and concerns at
this time. Please encourage your parents to volunteer in some
capacity.
What else does a parent
liaison do? Parent liaisons are volunteers, whose sons or daughters
may or may not be captains of the team. Besides regularly attending
Sports Boosters meetings and reporting any important information to
Booster officers, parent liaisons may also help with the following:
-
Assist coach in communicating
with parents via phone calls or e-mails
-
Inform team parents and coach
about important Booster events or information
-
Assist coach with team
fundraising efforts
-
Encourage Booster membership
from team parents
-
Help coordinate concessions
volunteers
-
Assemble and distribute team
roster and information sheets
-
Report team standings and highlights to Booster
Website Coordinator
-
Plan the team’s Sports Banquet menu
-
Collect for a coach’s gift
Thank you for being part of Atholton High School’s
Sports Boosters Program. If you
have any questions or concerns, please contact one of
us.
